Work experience and 4IM

For all the students, whatever their initial training is. From the 3rd year onwards, until the 5th year. For prestigious occupational experience, essential asset to finding employment. The firm may take care of the tuition fees. Pragmatic teaching, theory put into practice within the firm taking the student in. Acquiring some knowledge which is not taught at school (behavioural, organizational and involving relationships). Learning while working and working while learning

Searching for a firm where it will be possible to undergo a period of training is usually the first step to take if you want to join some course/work experience training

The student can be helped by 4IM, which puts comprehensive adapted logistics at his disposal:

• Canvassing for posts,
• Partner firm's advertisements,
• Seminars dealing with job interviews and how to direct them,
• Tools and training courses on CVs and covering letters and how to write them,
• Arguments about the advantages of students combining school courses with work experience, .
• High level Internet site meant for businesses for the management of job applications / and advertisements, during work experience periods.

Students admitted at the Institute but who could not find a firm for the start of the new academic year in September, still have 2 months to sign a contract.

Each student is accompanied by a business tutor , firstly to help him to apprehend the occupational world, the firm where the work experience placement will be possible and its context, then very quickly to acquire professional skills, in particular the ones which are necessary for the execution of the project and to keep a job.

Each student is joined equally by a tutor, 4IM teacher, in order to think about his occupational future and follow the progress of his training.

It is difficult to define best how long work experience periods should last. A compromise taking account of many parameters (the necessary time of students to adapt themselves, the optimisation of the trips, the recommendation of the firms/teachers, the analysis of experience, .) has been reached:

• For year #3 : 3 weeks within a firm and 3 weeks in 4IM,
• For year #4 : 4 weeks within a firm and 4 weeks in 4IM,
• For year #5 : 1 month within a firm and 1 month in 4IM,
