The Engineer-Manager (EM) training course,
leading to a European Master qualification

Objectives
At the end of his training, the 4IM Engineer-Manager , familiar with management and Information technology, will be able to aspire to managerial jobs and others such as a project manager. He will be very adaptable and fully qualified for business management (taking decisions and responsibilities en the IT system field). After a refresher course (for some students) en July / August, the start of the new school year opens with a transition course composed of a common - core syllabus: the basis of engineering knowledge. All along this year, students will be able to acquire the basic knowledge of an engineer. This is an adaptation year between secondary and higher education. The combination work experience with school course (50% in a firm, 50% at 4IM) starts from the very first month, in September, on the basis of 3 weeks in a firm for 3 weeks at 4 IM (duration adaptable to particular cases)

The first semester goes on, following the same principle as the previous year. As the second semester begins, students choose their LRE (Line of Reinforcement of Employability or specialization) among 6 possible choices (BUIT, LCO, OPM, ENT, SIM, OMK). Basic engineering knowledge is taught continuously throughout the common core syllabus. The combination, course / work experience (50% in a firm, 50% at 4IM) is then based on a 4 week rhythm.

The common-core syllabus - still compulsory- represents about 40 % of the classes and 60 % for the LRE. The combination, course / work experience (50% in a firm, 50% at 4IM) is finally based on a 1 month rhythm. There is an assessment of the school course / work experience combination at the end of the third year and also a defence. Both validate the 3 years' course.
Duration of the studies at 4IM
3 years, after the 2 years' higher education (" French Baccalaureat").
Organization of classes
. The first year, as well as the first semester of the second year focus on acquiring essential knowledge as far as management and information technology are concerned.

. From the second semester of the second year onwards, a specialization commonly called "Line of Reinforcement of Employability" (LRE) is chosen by the student to personalize his knowledge.
Who can study at 4IM ?
You are about to have a commercial or scientific diploma received after 2 years at university: you will then -with a 2 years' higher education qualification - join the 4IM first year students .

You are preparing a degree: you will join the 4IM second year students, with a 3 years' higher education qualification .

Selection on the basis of one's application and on the interviews is essential.
Foreign students represent a large part of the classes.
Pluridisciplinarity

The mainspring of the 4IM teaching focuses on :

  • new technologies
  • the command of the English language (or the French language for foreigners)
  • the practical and operational knowledge of business running
  • computer engineering
  • management
  • marketing
  • law
  • human and social science, .
These classes train students to learn and advance within organizations having IT departments, marketing Departments, financial Departments or commercial Departments, ...
School courses and work experience
The 3 year course is combined with work experience all along. This system applies to all the students, whatever their initial training is (just for the EM training).
The way the school years are organized
4IM applies the semestrialisation: The school year is made of two six-month periods of equal duration (30 credit ECTS per six-month period), from the beginning of September until the end of June. This chronology is justified by the international positioning of the institute. Moreover, it makes it possible to have 2 months available for complementary training courses in companies.
Assessment method
There are different ways to assess the students. The aim is not only to assess the students' standards and carry out a grading, but also to consolidate strong points and work on weak points. Every student, and this from the first year onwards, will initiate a particularized assessment of his skills, which will be used all along the 3 years. Continuous assessment will be made possible through exams based on Multiple Choice Questions, exams taken on computers. At the end of each semester, class exams will validate what the students know. The marking system in force at 4IM follows a double system, the one of the ECTS and a 4IM mark out of 20 .

The course of the “Engineer-Assistant” (EA) training,
leading to a European degree qualification

Objectives
The Engineer Assistant training (3 years' higher education, European Degree level), is aiming to provide - in a year - 2 years' higher education students with supplementary education. This additional year allows to reach the European L level of studies (L for Licence), making wide recognition by the occupational world possible. Students can simultaneously develop a specialization in an innovative growth technical field, as well as the essential knowledge to be able to assist an engineer.

Students willing to go on studying after this year can enrolle for the "Manager-Engineer" training and join the second year after following a refresher course.
Titre
Diplôma "Engineer Assistantr" (EA) level European Bachelor's degree from the school 4IM.
Organization of classes
Studies are organized around a year composed of classes for 6 months (from September to February) and work experience for 6 months (from March to August, and it can be extended until December). During the 6 months spent at the Institute, about 800 class hours are delivered to the students. The student is trained and supervised by the teacher / tutor who is responsible for each of the programmes, who guides him in his progress and helps him to find some work experience placement.
